Cito present at Celebration of 10 Years Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools

Cito BV director Jacqueline Visser and Cito International senior consultant Nico Dieteren were present in Astana on a very special December 1st. In Kazakhstan the first day of December annually marks the National Day of the First President.

This year, 2018, it also coincided with a special day to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the Autonomous Educational Organisation “Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools” (NIS). This celebration took place in the impressive central building of the Nazarbayev University in Astana. The person who lent his name to this University and to the group of 20 schools for gifted learners, President Nursultan Nazarbayev, was the special guest of honour at this event.

In a very short but important meeting Cito BV director Ms Visser explained and showed the President the strategic relationship between NIS and Cito over the past seven years of intensive collaboration. The event was hosted and visited by over a thousand people: staff members, international experts, teachers and students of the NIS schools. Many schools and their students gave performances with music, dance and poetry. President Nazarbayev received a special book to commemorate 10 Years of history of NIS schools.

The Cito staff members felt honoured and privileged to be invited to this special event, and greatly appreciate the contribution they have been able to make to this highly innovative project in Kazakhstani education, the Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools. Cito International provides a substantial contribution to the development of an integral assessment system in NIS schools, including the very high-stakes NIS Selection Test and Monitoring Systems to evaluate students’ performance in mathematics and languages.
