Cito consultants in Kenya

Recently Cito started a new consultancy project in Kenya. The Kenyan National Examinations Council (KNEC), with the support of the World Bank, has launched an ambitious and comprehensive program for reform of the National Assessment Framework.

Based on the new Competency Based Curriculum, as developed by the Kenyan Institute for Curriculum Development (KICD), KNEC will develop new formats and new types of formative and summative assessments. The new test will be used for school-based and for national standardized assessment. Cito experts will help to prepare for the shift from knowledge based to competency based learning and testing. We will give a series of workshops, dedicated to capacity building of the KNEC staff and to the development of a complete new national Competency Based Assessment Framework (CBAF).

The consultancy program will run for a maximum of three years. The work of Cito will also include the needs analysis and the specification of requirements for a new item bank system that will organise and maintain all the KNEC measurement instruments for assessment in Kenyan education.
