Cito Unit Director elected chair of NVE

Cor Sluijter (1960) was elected to become the new chairman of the Dutch Examinations Association (Nederlandse Vereniging voor Examens [NVE]) at its General Meeting. He will take up the post as of 3 December 2008 succeeding Wouter Schoonman. Cor Sluijter has been a member of the NVE since 2004.

The NVE was officially established on 24 December 1999 with the aim of improving the quality of examinations and examination procedures in the Netherlands. This is achieved in part by improving the knowledge of, and insight into the nature, objectives, technique and practice of examinations. The NVE also focuses on increasing the professional skills and expertise of all parties involved in examinations. It develops standards and codes of ethics for examinations, and creates platforms and other types of consultations for everyone employed in the field of examinations.

Cor Sluijter
Cor Sluijter (1960) was educated at a Dutch ‘gymnasium’ (grammar school). He graduated from the University of Amsterdam in 1985 with an honours degree in psychology. He was awarded a PhD at the same university in 1998. In 1986, having held a research post at the University of Twente, Cor Sluijter joined Cito (Institute for Educational Measurement) where he held various posts.
From 1 December 2003 he has worked as director of the Unit for Beroep, Bedrijf en Educatie / Hoger onderwijs (career, business and education/ higher education) and is responsible for product portfolios for MBO (Dutch senior secondary vocational education), HO/HBO (higher education/ higher professional education) and business.
